Carcross

Home of the World's Smallest Desert

Apparently, the community of Carcross (formerly known as Caribou Crossing, located on the Klondike Highway) is the only population center between Whitehorse (Yukon) and Skagway (Alaska). We started our trip from Whitehorse, and we stopped at a viewpoint that provided some information about the area.

Smallest Desert in the World!

Before arriving at Carcross, there is a small desert called the Carcross Desert. It's believed that this is the smallest desert in the world! As shown in the photos, in winter time the desert is covered in snow and ice and people come here for tobogganing, cross-country skiing or snowboarding.
